Temples of Chiang Rai

The sleepy Northern Thai town of Chiang Rai is perfect for anyone seeking temples and spirituality. Chiang Rai boasts good food, beautiful scenery and some of the best temples in the whole of Thailand. Many people stop off for just one day in Chiang Rai to see the white temple, but it’s just not enough.

Stay for at least 3-5 days to visit the Blue Temple Chiang Rai and also the Black house. The Blue temple is quite a new temple to Chiang Rai – it was started in 2005 and finished in 2016. There is a stunning white porcelain Buddha inside that reflects the blue color of the temple. It’s free to go.

The Baandam Museum, also known as the Black House Chiang Rai is a complex of over 40 exquisite black buildings that store the artistic collection of Thawan Duchanee. It costs just 80 baht to get in and is well worth a visit of at least a couple of hours.
