Life In Rajkot
Rajkot is a district – of total 26 districts of Gujarat with approximate population of 1.6 million (2012). The area of this district is expanded up to 11203 kilometer square.
Being part of the Gujarat, people of Rajkot speaks Gujarati language in their typical Kathiyavadi ascent. Other than Gujarati, various languages are spoken like Hindi, Rajasthani, Tamil, Marathi, Sindhi etc. by different people.
Traditional dresses of Gujarat are – Dhoti and Kurta for Male and Choli for Females. In Rajkot, you can see people wearing traditional clothes along with western clothes including jeans, t-shirt etc. Normally, boys wear casuals while girls/ ladies wear Gujarati Saree, Salwar Kurta. And these days, you may find several groups of people, wearing totally western clothes – branded clothes in the city.

More and more colleges are being built to provide better as well as high education in every field. Rajkot city has famous “saurashtra University” and ancient cum royal “Rajkumar College”.
You might have heard about Alfred High School, due to Gandhiji. Mohandan Karamchand Gandhi or just say “Bapu” has got their education through this Alfred High School. Now, this high school is known as the “Mohandas Gandhi High School”.
Along with study, people of Rajkot also have interest in various sports. In sports, craze of cricket is the most among youngsters as well as adults. Also city has 2 cricket stadiums in which many important matches have been played.
Rajkot is well connected through roads as well as Rail. Also city has it’s airport, with daily flights.
